Horse and Riders
Horse & Stall
1990 was the very first time I ever saw Grand Champions in the store. My first horses to see were the Pinto mare and foal, the Arabian Quarter horse mare and foal, and the Bay Morgan mare and foal. There was even the stallions to go with the mares and foals. The summer of the 1990 was even the first time I started collecting these beautiful horses.
This was my favorite time to start collecting these horses mostly due to the poses released. And there was so many of them, to drive a person horse crazy!
I believe in the beginning the horses only came with a GC brand on the rump. Later on they were released with an oval surrounding the GC brand.
Between 1990 and 1995 there were a lot more varieties of horses being created. The horses came in varieties including: mares, mares and foals, foals, stallions, families, Indian ponies, sound horses, horse and rider, and even parade!
There was even Blue Ribbon horses released as well. These were a special order by sending in 16 blue ribbon points.
(Note: The mare's name was changed when sold in a mare and foal set, or a family set).
The company had many flaws when the bio cards were created. The prototypes were created exactly like the cards but than later were changed when they were released. A few of the bio cards look similar to the 1988 horses but weren't' released that way.
Some horses in late 1995 was merged from the "MARCHON" company to the "Empire" company and released in early 1996. They were released with blue bio cards instead of white ones. I will have a detail page showing the differences on these.
Some of the horses even became movie stars!!!
